A Note to Parents
AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE ABOUT HOW YOU AS A PARENT CAN CONTRIBUTE TO THE LONG TERM SUCCESS OF YOUR SON OR DAUGHTER’S MARRIAGE
“In what might be called the ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’ factor, this study finds that couples who have larger wedding parties are more likely to report high-quality marriages,” said W. Bradford Wilcox, director of the National Marriage Project and a professor of sociology at the University of Virginia. “One possibility here is that couples with larger networks of friends and family may have more help, and encouragement, in navigating the challenges of married life”
The Wedding Ritual Dilemma...
Pine Peaks Wedding and Event Center is very much committed to the “Wedding Ritual” as spelled out in this study. The problem is in today’s world in attempting to have a proper wedding event are time and convenience. Almost all Wedding Venues offer a 16-hour experience. Arrive at 8: AM to decorate and be gone by midnight. Venues such as Hotels, Golf Courses, almost all of The Wedding Barns, and the new “Cookie Cutter Wedding Venues, book multiple Weddings over a weekend. The couple to be married and their families are rushed and forced to plan the weekend events based on traveling to different locations for the Rehearsal, Rehearsal Dinner, Ceremony, Reception, back to the hotel, Breakfast or Brunch the next day and the Gift opening ceremony.
The Rehearsal Dinner (Grooms Dinner) once a time-honored custom is now a source of frustration and potential danger for many wedding parties. Drive to one site for the Ceremony Rehearsal, and another for the Rehearsal Dinner. Then drive home or to a hotel after a late night of celebrating.
The Wedding Ceremony and Reception are seldom at the same location. The Wedding Party and immediate family are rushing and under pressure on that day to get to the wedding venue early to decorate, then get ready and dressed, to drive to different locations for the Ceremony and then back to the Reception location and then drive home at the end of the day, of course, once the decorations are removed from the venue. Now wasn’t that fun?
What if you and your child to be married are about to embark on this Wedding Ritual could enjoy this experience over a multi-day period and all at the same location without rush? The Bride and Groom could check in early before the wedding with the wedding party and family members checking in anytime then or after. We have on-site lodging for 20 plus guests at our beautiful up north Retreat Lodge at Pine Peaks.
The long weekend would go like this:
Thursday
Check-in to Pine Peaks Wedding and Event Center and begin the process of preparing for the Wedding Ritual by decorating the Reception Hall using all of the wonderful decorations in Pine Peak’s Treasure Chest Room. In the Spring, Summer, and Fall months you can bring or rent a camper or motorhome and park on-site at one of Pine Peaks' many RV parking pads complete with power, sewer, and water.
Friday
Once you are finished decorating you can go enjoy the beautiful Crosslake area and all that it has to offer year-round. Shopping, sightseeing, fine dining, Golf, Boating, and bird watching. Did you know that Crosslake is about to become a bird watching sanctuary city and will be the location of the new National Loon Center? Then back to Pine Peaks Wedding Venue for a wedding rehearsal on-site at one of the several beautiful Wedding Ceremony gardens or in the overhead pavilion for winter ceremonies or inclement weather. Then an on-site DIY Rehearsal Dinner or choose from any of the local caterers. Finish the night at Pine Peaks Wedding and Event Center, a Private Country Estate.
Saturday
The Wedding Party can get ready on-site and the Bride and Bridesmaids have full use of the on-site Hair and Makeup Salon in the Retreat Lodge. The Groom and Groomsmen can use the Recreation Room with a Pool Table, Bar, and Big Screen TV. Or go outside play lawn games, and use the Wood Fired Sauna before being photographed on the beautiful grounds of Pine Peaks Wedding and Event Center. After the on-site Wedding Ceremony to officially begin the Wedding Ritual before up to 300 guests, the Cocktail Hour, and then the Grand March and Wedding Feast can begin.
Sunday
Sleep in and enjoy a mid-morning brunch. How about a Gift Opening Ceremony in the afternoon at the on-site Retreat Lodge with family members and close friends? Early on Sunday, the Pine Peaks team will be busy cleaning up the Event Center and setting up for the next Wedding Celebration for the following week. Any items or decorations you bring will be set aside for you to pick up at your leisure when you check out on Sunday at 3 PM. Unfortunately, you must check out and go back to the real world.
